To enjoy the functionality the Everstrike Software-developed application Protect Folder has to offer, you must first go through two simple steps that take little time to complete. I am of course talking about downloading and installing the application on your Windows-powered PC.

The download process will take very little time to complete since it weighs in at a mere 2.4MB. Getting 2.4MB off the web and onto your computer will take very little time, even if you have to contend with a less than spectacular internet connection. To my mind, it’s always nice when you don’t have to wait a long time for a download to complete.

The installation process will complete in very little time as well. Just follow the instruction presented by the setup wizard and you will be done before you know it. Protect Folder can be installed on top of several versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows version. The following versions: Windows 2000, 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (at the time of writing this; according to the developer).

After you go through these two steps, it is finally time to use Protect Folder. Here is the functionality you can expect to get from the application:
- Password protect files, folders and removable drives
- Encrypt files, folders and removable drives
- Files and folders are encrypted on-the-fly when sent into a protected folder
- There are no size limitations for protecting files, folders and removable drives
- Content on a removable drive is automatically locked when you disconnect the device
- Configure your folders to lock automatically on a time-out
- Hotkeys are supported
- You don’t need Protect Folder to access Protect Folder-protected USB drives on another computer.

Please note that you can use Protect Folder free of charge only for a trial period of 15 days. Some features are disabled in the trial version; the trial version displays registration reminders.

  • Easy to use
  • Encrypt, password protect files, folders and removable drives
